Shopify’s native bulk editor is too limited for serious catalogue management

Shopify’s built-in bulk editor only exposes a handful of fields, can’t filter by vendor or tag, and forces you to select products one page at a time. For any store with more than a few hundred products, it’s faster to open each product individually than to fight the limitations of the native editor.

What the Native Shopify Bulk Editor Can’t Do

The native bulk editor does not support SEO titles, meta descriptions, vendor, product type, SKU, metafields, URL handles, or find-and-replace. It cannot apply percentage-based price changes or non-destructive tag edits.

For merchants managing a catalogue of any real size, these gaps mean the native tool is inadequate for the most common bulk editing tasks.

What an Advanced Bulk Editor Needs to Support

A complete Shopify bulk editor must cover every product field, support filtering by any attribute before applying changes, provide find-and-replace across text fields, and offer formula-based operations for numeric fields.

It must also support non-destructive tag editing (add or remove specific tags without overwriting the existing list) and batch operations via the Shopify API for reliability at scale.

How AssetScope’s Advanced Editor Will Work

AssetScope already provides dedicated tools for each field category: pricing, SEO, tags, vendor, SKU, collections, and images. The advanced bulk editor will unify these into a single spreadsheet-style interface where every field is visible and editable in one view.

Filter by any combination of vendor, product type, tag, collection, or search term. Edit directly in the table. Apply all changes in one batch.

What it will do

Every field in one view

Edit titles, descriptions, prices, SEO fields, vendor, product type, tags, SKUs, and metafields — all in a single spreadsheet-style interface.

Find & replace

Search and replace across any text field — titles, descriptions, SEO fields, tags — with regex support and preview before applying.

Advanced filtering

Filter your product list by vendor, product type, tag, collection, status, or any combination before applying bulk changes.

Formula-based operations

Apply percentage price changes, concatenate strings, set values conditionally — operations that go beyond simple value entry.

Preview before applying

See exactly what will change before committing. No surprises, no accidental overwrites.

Batch API operations

All changes applied via Shopify’s GraphQL API in a single batch. Reliable, fast, and auditable.
