Manage Shopify URL Redirects in Bulk — Without a CSV
Every time you change a product URL handle, the old URL can become a 404. Shopify’s native redirect interface is one-at-a-time. AssetScope’s Bulk URL Redirect Manager lets you create, audit, and clean up redirects across your entire store.

Every handle change risks a 404
When you update a product URL handle, the old URL stops working unless you manually create a redirect. One missed redirect means lost traffic and a broken link in Google’s index.
Auto-redirects have gaps
Shopify auto-creates redirects when you change a handle in the admin editor — but not during CSV imports, API changes, or app-driven updates. Those changes silently break URLs.
One redirect at a time
The native URL Redirects page in Shopify lets you create one redirect at a time. There is no bulk creation interface — only a CSV import buried inside Online Store > Navigation.
No visibility into external links
There is no way to audit which old URLs are still being linked to externally. Broken backlinks silently leak PageRank and send visitors to 404 pages.

What it will do
Auto-detect missing redirects
After bulk handle changes, automatically surface old URLs that now return 404s because no redirect was created — then fix them in one click.
Bulk import redirect pairs from CSV
Upload a CSV of old-path / new-path pairs and create hundreds of redirects at once — no navigating Shopify’s buried import interface.
Audit and flatten redirect chains
Find redirects that chain through multiple hops (A→B→C) and flatten them to direct redirects (A→C) to reduce latency and preserve SEO equity.
Flag redirect loops
Detect circular redirects where URL A points to B and B points back to A — a silent SEO killer that causes infinite redirect errors for visitors.
Auto-generate redirects from URL Handle Editor
When you clean up product handles using AssetScope’s URL Handle Editor, automatically create redirects from the old URLs to the new ones — zero manual work.
Frequently Asked Questions
Shopify’s native interface lets you create redirects one at a time, or import a CSV of redirect pairs via Online Store > Navigation > URL Redirects > Import. AssetScope’s Bulk URL Redirect Manager will automate this process, detecting missing redirects after handle changes and letting you create them in bulk.
When you change a product’s URL handle in the Shopify admin product editor, Shopify automatically creates a redirect from the old URL to the new one. However, this does not happen when handles are changed via CSV import, the Shopify API, or third-party apps.
Go to Online Store > Navigation > URL Redirects > Import. Upload a CSV with two columns: “Redirect from” (the old path) and “Redirect to” (the new path). Shopify processes the file and creates the redirects. For large files, processing may take several minutes.
A redirect chain occurs when URL A redirects to URL B, which redirects to URL C. Each hop adds latency and dilutes PageRank. Google recommends a maximum of one redirect hop. Chains should be flattened so A redirects directly to C.
